Volcanoes are formed along convergent boundary and on top of the hot spot. When two plates collide, denser plate subduct and move towards the mantle. When it reaches the mantles it melts and becomes less dense and rise up to the surface to form volcanoes.
Three types of volcanoes:
Shield Volcano
Stratovolcanoes
Cinder cone volcanoes
Shield Volcano - are very wide volcanoes but not to steep. This volcanoes occupies the largest volume. In fact Olympus Mons from Mars is an example of shield volcano which is the largest volcanoes in our solar system.
